NCAAF Week 6: Texas Longhorns vs. Oklahoma Sooners betting picks, preview

I assume the Red River Rivalry is going to continue when Texas and Oklahoma join the SEC next season. Either way, we should be getting a good version of it in their last time as Big 12 members. Both programs are undefeated and ranked in the top 12. Whichever team wins is almost assured a spot in the Big 12 title game later this fall.

Texas Longhorns vs. Oklahoma Sooners Betting Trends and Odds

Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023 — 1 p.m., ET

Odds: Texas -6, Over/under 60.5, Texas -258 | Oklahoma +210

The Longhorns broke a series losing streak last season in stunning fashion, winning 49-0. This is a neutral site contest and the line feels very sharp right now, especially with some making the case that Texas could be the top team in the nation. Nobody is saying that about undefeated Oklahoma. This line probably holds steady, maybe a half-point of movement.

Pick for Texas vs. Oklahoma

Texas -6

You never know if you are going to get it, but Texas' best game is better than that of Oklahoma. Yes, the Sooners have some massive revenge in mind after last year's loss, but Texas is the more talented squad and I am not sure there is a coaching edge with the Sooners as there has been in the past. I am not looking for anything fancy in this one, but Texas is better at quarterback and the Longhorns have more explosive playmakers for Quinn Ewers to work with. Defensively, OU is better than they were a year ago but this is their first big test of the season. Texas is not going to blow out the Sooners but they can win each half by a score and that is the difference.

Per the intro, with the one so close to the number and Texas the more public team some movement is expected, but it won't go too far.
