NFL Draft Dream Destinations for Penn State TE Tyler Warren

Penn State tight end Tyler Warren’s senior year was one not to be forgotten.

As the NFL draft approaches, analysts predict the Mechanicsville, VA product will hear his name called around the middle of the first round.

Warren led the Nittany Lions in receiving yards, nearly doubling the next man on the list. As far as receptions, he more than doubled the next player on the list.

Tyler Warren should be an exciting player at the next level, but it all depends on where he lands. Look at the stark contrast between Kyle Pitts and Brock Bowers and their career trajectories.

With that said, here are three dream landing places for Tyler Warren in the NFL:

Los Angeles Chargers

Jim Harbaugh is a good coach, and the Chargers are always almost there (something Warren can relate to). But the Chargers offense needs more skill, and quite frankly, more stars. Warren has the potential to be the guy at tight end, rather than playing second fiddle like in some of these other scenarios.

Philadelphia Eagles

Reflect back on when the Eagles drafted Dallas Goedert.

Some fans scratched their heads because, at the time, Zach Ertz was a top 3 tight end. But the pairing was beautiful. The Eagles ran a lot of 12 personnel and opposing defenses had a hard time stopping it. Now, Goedert is aging and injury-prone. It’s time for the Eagles to start thinking about the future at tight end.

If Warren could head over to Philly, he could learn behind one of the best all-around tight ends in the league and be the next star tight end for the Eagles for the next 5-10 years.

Kansas City Chiefs

I could also insert the 49ers here, as the reasoning is the same.

Can you imagine Warren paired up with Travis Kelce/George Kittle? Once again, Warren would sit behind one of the best tight ends in the NFL but would also get plenty of targets because of the double teams used on Kelce/Kittle. Then, when the time came, Warren would take over as the starter under one of the best minds in all of football under Andy Reid.

New Orleans Saints

Tyler Warren has the potential to be quite the gadget player if he is paired with the right coach. The ultimate gadget player in the NFL right now is Taysom Hill. Just imagine the trick plays that could be wrought with these two on the same offense. Snap the ball to Warren who throws to Hill who throws it back to Warren. Oh, man, that could be glorious.

It’s unfortunate that Penn State’s season ended the way it did. But for Tyler Warren, there’s a lot to look forward to. He looks like he’s headed for a long and productive career in the NFL.
