When LeSean McCoy talks football, people listen. The former Pro Bowl running back has never been shy with his takes—but his recent comments about Shedeur Sanders might be his boldest yet.

Speaking on The Facility on FOX Sports, McCoy revealed that, according to his sources, the fifth-round pick from Colorado is making serious waves at the Cleveland Browns’ rookie minicamp. In fact, McCoy went as far as to say Sanders “looks like the best player out of the whole camp.” For a rookie quarterback still adjusting to the speed of the NFL, that’s no small praise.

“He’s a rookie, he’s gonna take some time. But he’s gonna start early this year,” McCoy said. “I don’t care if it’s minicamp, real camp, fake camp, boy scout camp, be the best at everything you do.”

McCoy’s comments come amid high expectations and sharp scrutiny for Shedeur Sanders, the son of NFL Hall of Famer and Colorado head coach Deion Sanders. After two standout seasons under his father—where he threw for a 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns in 2024—Shedeur entered the NFL Draft with mixed projections, eventually landing in Cleveland in the fifth round.

But McCoy isn’t buying the draft-day skepticism.

“He’s in there to start,” he emphasized. “He looks way more focused… And the biggest part why he will start early this year is because you in a room full of dudes that would struggle to start on any other team.”

With the Browns’ QB room currently featuring veterans like Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and an injured Deshaun Watson, McCoy didn’t hold back in his assessment of the competition. “If there’s a room full of backups, who going to be the starter? Come on now, let’s stop playing around with this thing.”

Buffs fans already know Shedeur Sanders is built differently. Now, with his NFL journey underway, the buzz is real—and it’s coming from voices who know what greatness looks like.

If McCoy is right, Colorado’s “Grown” QB could be on track to shake up Cleveland’s depth chart—and do it sooner than anyone expected.
