Former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban retired from coaching following the 2023 college football season.

He took the Tide to the College Football Playoff before they lost a heartbreaker to the Michigan Wolverines. The Wolverines would eventually win the national title over the Washington Huskies.

Kalen DeBoer, who led the Huskies to the National Championship Game, was poached by the Tide and became the new Alabama head coach once the 2023 season ended. He led Alabama to a 9-4 record in 2024 and will try to get the team back to the CFP when the 2025 season starts in August.

Since Saban retired, he has been working as a full-time analyst for ESPN's College GameDay. He's set to be on the show for the upcoming season, but according to Greg McElroy, someone told him that Saban might not be done coaching.

"This is a little bit out of left field, but the question was asked of me, a very much in-the-know person that I have a lot of respect for and have spent a lot of time around and just really, really admire. They seem to think Nick Saban’s not done coaching," McElroy said on "McElroy and Cubelic in the morning."

If that turns out to be true, it would send a shockwave through college football, as Saban is one of the greatest coaches in the sport's history. He has won seven national titles as a head coach, including six with the University of Alabama. The other came with LSU.

Time will tell if something comes of this rumor.
