Notre Dame football makes a huge move with a Texas speedster, and there is now one more opportunity to close for the Fighting Irish

Notre Dame football is in an extremely important month concerning the 2026 recruiting class, and most notably at wide receiver. Mike Brown and the Fighting Irish will be hosting a series of top targets in June, including Rosharon (Texas) Iowa Colony wide receiver Jayden Warren, who was in for an unofficial visit the last few days.

The relationship between Warren and Notre Dame is still very new, but things are moving quickly. According to multiple sources, things went extremely well with Warren this weekend and they made a major move. The Texas star has already set an official visit to return to South Bend on June 17-19.

Warren has been one of the biggest risers in the 2026 wide receiver class since the end of his junior season. He now ranks as a consensus four-star player by each of the major recruiting platforms. On the Rivals ranking, Warren currently sits as the No. 115 overall player, No. 16 wide receiver, and No. 17 player in the state of Texas for the 2026 recruiting class.

Most recruiting platforms see the Texas speedster very similarly. On the 247Sports Composite ranking, they have Warren pegged as the No. 137 overall player and No. 19 player in the class. Warren also currently sits as the No. 20 player in the state of Texas, arguably the best hotbeds for talent historically.

Warren has seen his offer list continue to expand this offseason, and it now sits north of 30 offers. Some of the top schools who have offered him so far include the Fighting Irish, Alabama, Oklahoma, Miami, Texas A&M, Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, SMU, Kansas State, Illinois, TCU, Baylor, Pittsburgh, Oregon State, Kansas, Maryland, Texas Tech, Wisconsin, Arizona, Houston, and Stanford among others.

A late bloomer, Warren just showed a glimpse into his overall talent during the 2024 season. The 6-1, 195-pound pass catcher managed to haul in 26 receptions for 613 yards and 14 touchdowns, an average of 23.6 yards per reception.

While Warren is far from a finished product, there are a lot of tools to work with there. The biggest one is speed, which he has an argument as the more explosive player in the entire 2026 class. A notable track and field sprinter, Warren has run the 100-meter dash in 10.16 seconds, an elite time. Warren also has a personal best of 21.07 seconds in the 200-meter dash.

It’s possible that junior Jaden Greathouse could be the team’s top pass catcher in 2025, and funny enough, he is also originally from the state of Texas. That state is going to be very, very important for the Fighting Irish to try and piece together a strong wide receiver class. This was a great step with Warren, but now it is closing time.
