Notre Dame football reduces stadium capacity to 20% for 2020

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are the latest football program to drastically reduce stadium capacity for home games held amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

On Monday, the university announced that Notre Dame Stadium will be limited to 20% capacity or less, with students receiving the first opportunities to acquire tickets. From there, Notre Dame faculty and staff will be allowed to purchase seats.

Face coverings, such as masks, are required, and guests will be encouraged to follow social distancing protocols. Tailgating is prohibited.

Notre Dame temporarily paused football workouts earlier this month due to an on-campus coronavirus outbreak. The program has since resumed training sessions.

Notre Dame will compete as an ACC member for the 2020 campaign and is scheduled to open the season at home versus Duke on Sept. 12. The Fighting Irish face South Florida on Sept. 19.
