Notre Dame loses commitment of 5-star EDGE Keon Keeley

Keon Keeley is a major recruit in the 2023 class and up until recently, he was a major part of Marcus Freeman's 2023 Notre Dame Fighting Irish class. Keeley committed to Notre Dame in June of 2021, but that commitment is no more, according to the recruit himself.

"First and foremost, I would like to thank the University of Notre Dame and their tremendous staff for spending the time to recruit me to Notre Dame. I'm truly grateful for the opportunity," the 5-star recruit wrote on Twitter. "Making a decision that will ultimately affect my life's path has been quite challenging and cannot be understated. With that said I will be decommitting from the University of Notre Dame. I hope everyone understands my need to ensure I find the right path. Thank you so much."

This is a massive recruiting loss for Notre Dame because Keeley is a highly regarded player. He checks in at 6-foot-6, 242-pounds, and is ranked as the No. 1 EDGE in the country, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. He's also the ninth-ranked overall player, regardless of position.

Notably, Keeley recently took a visit to Alabama, and he boasts an offer from Nick Saban's Crimson Tide. Other notable offers on the table for the big-time recruit include schools such as Ohio State and Florida, according to recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong
