Ryan Day has had immense success with the quarterback position during his time as head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Not only has Ohio State landed numerous high-level quarterbacks under Day, but they’ve also developed them for the most part.
However, the class of 2026 has been a bit unusual for the Buckeyes, as they have yet to secure a quarterback commitment. That could soon change.
Most of the highly-touted quarterbacks in the 2026 class are already committed or heavily leaning toward other programs. While Ohio State had interest in several prospects, taking an elite quarterback in this cycle never seemed like a top priority. That said, they’ve recently zeroed in on four-star quarterback Luke Fahey out of Mission Viejo, California.
Fahey officially received an offer from Ohio State this past weekend following a recent uptick in mutual interest.

Fahey is rated as the No. 355 overall player and the No. 23 quarterback in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. While slightly undersized at 6-foot, 185 pounds, the Buckeyes are impressed with his football IQ and gritty, confident play style.
This past weekend’s official visit was key for Fahey, as he earned his offer from the coaching staff. He’s also taken visits to Indiana, Stanford, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma. Although Ohio State entered the race a bit late, they appear to be trending as the favorite.
Ohio State already has freshman quarterback Tavien St. Clair on campus, who is expected to be the quarterback of the future after Julian Sayin, if all goes to plan. They also have a four-star commitment in the 2027 class in Brady Edmonds.
The Buckeyes certainly don’t lack quarterback talent for the future—and Luke Fahey could soon be the next name added to that group.
