Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate got to have the celebration of a lifetime with his teammates on Monday.
Tate helped Ohio State win its first college football national title in a decade with a 34-23 win over Notre Dame. He finished the game with two receptions for 35 yards and finished the season with 52 receptions for 733 yards and four touchdowns.
Tate was asked about some transfer portal rumors by Brad Crawford of 247Sports during the celebration but didn't say much about them. Instead, he wanted to focus on the moment.
"I'm just going to celebrate with my team," Tate said.
In other words, Tate will deal with that situation once he's done celebrating this great accomplishment.
Fans are still not thrilled with Crawford for asking that question right after the game.
"Why are we asking a 20-year-old about the transfer portal less than an hour after he just won the biggest game of his life? Let the guy celebrate," one tweet read.
"Welcome to CFB in 2025, where you’re asked if you’re changing schools 15 minutes after starting and winning the national championship," another tweet read.
"No need to ask a kid about the transfer portal minutes after winning a national championship. Let him have his moment with his team. Any transfer-related questions can wait a few days," another fan tweeted.
"I’m not some newbie who thinks these things don’t matter, but this is an insane question to ask a kid moments after they won a title. Grow up," another fan tweeted.
Tate will discuss the portal when he's ready but he also told Crawford after the game that he wants to help his team win a national title next year after how this season went.
Tate has been with the Buckeyes for the last two seasons, compiling 70 receptions for 997 yards and five touchdowns.
