Ohio State wide receiver transfer lands out west after leaving the Buckeyes

While Ohio State may produce more wide receiver talent for the NFL, it may feel a bit like a farm system for the rest of college football too.

Every year we see wide receivers transfer out of Columbus and go on to play for other schools. The most notable was Jameson Williams when he went to Alabama and still became a first-round pick.

The latest receiver to transfer is Kyion Grayes, who announced that he is heading to play for the California Golden Bears recently.

Following spring camp, Grayes was one of six Buckeyes to enter the transfer portal within the spring window. Grayes is from the west coast in Arizona, so going back west is no surprise since he is now closer to home.

In the class of 2022, Grayes was a top-10 wideout, according to 247 Sports. He picked Ohio State over Oregon, Texas, Tennessee, Arizona, and others.

As a Buckeye, Grayes had just one catch in the two seasons that he played in Columbus. Grayes will have three years of eligibility remaining since he took a redshirt season as a freshman.

It was going to be tough for Geayes to get any looks again this season with how stacked the Buckeyes are on the depth chart, so now more opportunity should come for him.
