Oklahoma Sooners secure crucial commitment of must-have offensive playmaker to complete rebuild of position room

Ruxer committed to the Sooners over Duke, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue, and West Virginia. 

The 6'4, 220-pound athlete plays on both sides of the ball as both TE/WR and a defensive back. He's built more like a jumbo wide receiver than a true tight end, more along the lines of recent Sooners like Mark Andrews and Grant Calcaterra.

Ruxer joins Ryder Mix as the second tight end in Oklahoma's class. He is also just the fourth skill position player to commit to the Sooners in 2026, joining wide receiver Daniel Odom, running back DeZephen Walker, and the aforementioned Mix. The Sooners are hoping Ruxer starts a run here as they aim to build a full offense around elite quarterback commit Bowe Bentley. 

It was crucial for Oklahoma to rebuild their tight end room in the offseason. The top two on the depth chart, Will Huggins and Jaren Kanak, enter their final seasons of eligibility, and the rest of the room has had little to no production in their collegiate careers as well. 

The Sooners simply had to find talent here to restock this room, which has been missing a serious playmaker for what feels like years. Hopefully, Ruxer and Ryder Mix can answer the call and give the Sooners the playmaker they've wanted here for so long.
