The Oklahoma Sooners may not have the same exact team they have now during spring ball when the season actually starts. they may make some changes between now and then, as the spring transfer portal window could change everything.
There are still some needs that the Sooners need to address before the season kicks off. Luckily, there is still a lot of time between now and then. But, they can save some time by staying away from a recruit who just entered the transfer portal, which will be quite a popular name.
NEW: Tennessee State DL Eriq George has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, @PeteNakos_ reports.

Eriq George is a defensive lineman for Tennessee State University and the son of NFL legend Eddie George, who was also his head coach, and a former Heisman Trophy Winner. Unlike his dad, a former running back, Eriq plays defense.
He’s 6-foot-2 and weighs between 265-280 pounds, bringing size and speed to the field. In his 2023 freshman debut against Notre Dame, he made four solo tackles, showing he could contribute right away.
In 2024, his sophomore year, Eriq had 51 tackles and 5.5 sacks, earning All-Big South/OVC second-team honors. The Tigers went 9-3 and made the FCS playoffs that season. On Wednesday, Eriq entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, leaving his future uncertain despite his strong play. Wherever he goes next, his talent and background make him a player to watch. He could go to Bowling Green, where it looks like his father is going to coach now. Or, he could try to go to a bigger school.
Either way, the Sooners shouldn't target him.
Right now, George wouldn't get any playing time. As an edge rusher, he would likely get the fourth most playing time, which is not good. He would be behind guys like R Mason Thomas, Marvin Jones Jr., and Adepoju Adebawore. Bringing him in would be more of a developmental move, and the Sooners have enough young edge rushers to develop.
I get the flash and the idea of the move. But, it just doesn't make much sense, especially when you factor in some of their bigger needs, like a center or even depth on the offensive line.
