Another Oklahoma State player is on his way out, and it shouldn’t surprise anyone at this point. Offensive lineman Grant Seagren has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal, becoming the latest name to leave a Cowboys program that’s already circling the drain.
Seagren isn’t a headliner, but he’s exactly the kind of player you’d expect to move on right now. He’s a 6-foot-6, 305-pound lineman who transferred in from Nebraska and looked like he might contribute this year. Instead, it never really came together. Like a lot of things in Stillwater this season, it was all potential and not much else. The team struggled, the offense stalled out, and Seagren’s name didn’t get called much on Saturdays.
Now, with the season going nowhere and Mike Gundy out as head coach, the reset button has officially been slammed. Players are leaving at an alarming rate, and nothing is keeping those on the fringes of the depth chart waiting around. If you’re not locked into a starting spot or guaranteed reps in 2025, you are probably weighing your options. And for Seagren, the decision makes sense.
This is what happens when things fall apart. Oklahoma State is flat-out bad this season. The offense never found any rhythm, the line never gelled, and what’s left of the coaching staff looks like it’s stuck in the past. Once the wheels came off, it was only a matter of time before guys started bailing. Seagren saw limited action, didn’t have a guaranteed role going forward, and now gets to hit reset for a second time. He’s got size, he’s played in multiple Power Four programs, and he should draw interest from teams looking for plug-and-play depth up front.
It’s hard to imagine Oklahoma State turning this thing around quickly, especially if the roster keeps bleeding talent like this. Seagren may not have been a household name, but his decision to leave is part of a larger trend we’re going to see a lot more of in Stillwater over the next few weeks. The roster is about to look very different, and the rebuild is only just getting started.
