For the most part, spring football games are largely ceremonial exhibitions that represent the end of a portion of a team's practice calendar.
It seems Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin took this year's edition of the contest more seriously than others.
David Johnson of 247Sports was the first to report that Kiffin has parted ways with offensive line coach and running game coordinator Randy Clements on Tuesday, just three days after the program's spring game. Clements was set to enter his second season on Kiffin's staff.
According to Chris Low of ESPN, Kiffin is making the change due to football-related reasons and not because of anything to do with potential off-the-field problems. Zach Berry of Red Cup Rebellion added it's unknown who will replace Clements or when Kiffin may announce that appointment.
Under Clements, Ole Miss led the SEC in rushing with 210.6 yards per game and was fourth in sacks allowed with 19 last season. Robbie Weinstein of 247Sports wrote that Kiffin did not seem displeased with the 28-6 scoreline of the spring game when he spoke with reporters following the scrimmage.
