The Ole Miss Rebels continue to rack up the finalist and commitment date announcements for a number of special football recruits from around the country.

Lane Kiffin and Rebels fans are going to be hearing from offensive tackle Kamari Blair this week and wide receiver Jerquaden Guilford shortly after that. Now they're set to hear from yet another elite offensive playmaker less than a month from now and it looks like he could be leaning towards Ole Miss.

Jase Mathews, Elite Four Star WR Recruit Announces Commitment Date

Jase Mathews, a four star wide receiver from Leakesville, Mississippi continues to rise up recruiting boards as Rivals now has him ranked firmly inside five star range at 17th overall in the nation. Mathews racked up over 1500 all-purpose yards last year in just (over 150 yards per game) and has been considering committing to a number of the best college football programs in the country.

Mathews announced this week that he finally has his recruitment narrowed down to just four teams in Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M. He'll be announcing which school he's choosing on August 8th.

The Ole Miss Rebels have been in on Jase Mathews for two years now, offering him a scholarship over a year before any other SEC school bothered getting involved. Since that summer of 2023 when Lane Kiffin offered him, he's taken more visits with the Rebels than any other school, including an unofficial and official in the last three months alone. It's clear Kiffin and company have been putting in the work here.

Mathews also took official visits to Colorado, Auburn, Texas A&M, and LSU through May and June, but the majority of recruiting experts still expect him to eventually land with the Rebels. If he does choose any other school it may be Auburn or LSU because despite being an "in-state" recruit he actually lives just a bit closer to both of those campuses and seemingly has his best relationships with those two (outside of Ole Miss).

If he does land with the Rebels, that would completely stack the 2026 wide receiver group for Lane Kiffin's offense as they already have two commits with yet another possible option coming in Jerquaden Guilford this week. Hopefully Kiffin can close on at least one of the two wide receivers he's currently targeting (both Guilford and Mathews).

Mathews could be an instant contributor from day one in the slot given his well-developed route running ability and insane burst out of his breaks. Guilford–if he commits–would likely play the perimeter. If both land in Oxford, the 2026 freshman wide receiver room for Ole Miss would be one of the best in the nation.
