Lane Kiffin is 46-18 at Ole Miss since 2020, but he has yet to reach the elusive College Football Playoff berth.
Kiffin and the Rebels finished the regular season at 9-3 and were left out of the CFP in 2024. Ole Miss lost the likes of quarterback Jaxson Dart, defensive lineman Walter Nolen, receiver Tre Watkins and edge rusher Princely Umanmielen to the NFL Draft.
No. 17 Ole Miss takes on Arkansas in Week 3 after a 2-0 start to the year. However, it will have to be without starting quarterback Austin Simmons, via On3's Ben Garrett.
The Rebels will be going with Ferris State transfer Trinidad Chambliss under center.
Simmons suffered an ankle injury in the 30-23 win over Kentucky, accounting for 235 passing yards and two interceptions.
He was a former four-star recruit and No. 19 quarterback in the 2023 class. The Pahokee, Florida, native was named the starter this season and has recorded 576 passing yards, three touchdowns and an SEC-leading four interceptions.
Chambliss spent 2023-24 at Ferris State and threw for 3,279 passing yards, 31 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He was the No. 36 quarterback in the Rivals Transfer Portal Industry Rankings.
The Rebels come into Saturday with a two-game winning streak over the Razorbacks. However, Arkansas leads the all-time series 37-31-1.
This season has been new territory for Kiffin, who has had Dart starting under center since 2022. Before Dart, the Rebels had Matt Corral starting at quarterback from 2020-21.
Arkansas is also 2-0 after wins over Alabama A&M and Arkansas State, but has yet to play an SEC opponent. Former Boise State quarterback Taylen Green leads the Razorbacks.
Lane Kiffin takes on Sam Pittman and Arkansas for the chance to improve to 3-0 at 7 p.m. ET live from Oxford, Mississippi, on ESPN.
