Olu Fashanu became the Penn State football program's 102nd first-team All-American when the Walter Camp Football Foundation recognized the left tackle on its 2023 All-America Team. Fashanu is Penn State's second first-team All-American in five years (joining Micah Parsons in 2019) and the 15th All-American for head coach James Franklin.
Fashanu, the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year, also became Penn State's first offensive tackle to win first-team honors since Chris Conlin in 1986. The last offensive lineman to win first-team recognition was guard Stefan Wisniewski in 2010. Further, Fashanu is Penn State's first member of the Walter Camp first team since offensive guard Jeff Hartings in 1994-95.
A two-year starter at Penn State, Fashanu was among the highest-graded linemen in the nation. He did not allow a sack in 382 pass-blocking snaps this season and in more than 680 over the past two years. According to Sports Info Solutions, Fashanu recorded just eight blown blocks (only one in run-blocking situations) this season.
Fashanu is the top-rated offensive tackle of the 2024 NFL Draft, according to ESPN's Field Yates. The 6-6, 317-pound Fashanu, a second-team All-American last season, could become the 44th consensus All-American in Penn State history. The team captain also was a finalist for the Campbell Trophy. Fashanu, a three-time Dean's List honoree, carries a 3.45 grade-point average in supply chain and information systems.
