The Oregon Ducks weren't the first team to land a commitment from four-star interior offensive lineman Tommy Tofi, but that doesn't mean they're done pursuing him. The Cal Bears commit has only been on the former Pac-12 rivals' verbal list for two weeks, but Oregon might be feeling more confident after figuring out Tofi's priorities.

Tofi visited the Ducks this past weekend, surely sending some worrying signs to the Bears' coaching staff about whether they can keep one of their top targets. The San Francisco native talked about his trip and the program's expectations.

"One thing that I learned about this trip is that this program has three missions they want to accomplish this year: the Joe Moore Award, to win the Big Ten again and win a National Championship," Tofi told 247Sports.

"I I had great conversations with the whole offensive line coaching staff and coach Stein, telling me how they'd use me in their offense and telling me that I was their missing puzzle piece in this offensive line group," Tofi said.

A top 100 overall player and the sixth-ranked interior blocker in the 2026 class, the Ducks are allocating a lot of personnel and resources in order to land him. He previously told Matt Ray of Volquest, “I just want to go somewhere where I could best fit and, also, where they can help me with my development in this whole process.”

That contradicts the mindset he had a few weeks ago, though. And herein lies the difficulty of projecting where recruits land. Here's what he said to Brandon Huffman of 247 “I want to cement my legacy as a hometown hero in the Bay Area." He'd join his brother at Cal and a roster filled with Polynesian athletes.

But if he wants development, then following in the footsteps of Penei Sewell, Josh Conerly, and Jackson Powers-Johnson makes the most sense.

Here's a quick scouting report on Tofi from 247Sports' Greg Biggins.

"Massive two-way lineman who offers a ton of positional versatility. Owns tackle length, huge hands, and a jarring punch. Shows above average balance and lateral mobility as a pass protector. Boasts a rare combination of size, fluidity, and the ability to finish. Possesses as much upside as any offensive lineman out west with the potential to become an NFL Draft pick," Biggins said.
