Oregon Ducks could be without star freshman ahead of their battle with their in-state rival

Oregon’s promising start to the 2025 season may face an early challenge, as true freshman wide receiver Dakorien Moore is rumored to be dealing with a hip bruise or pointer. The report, first surfaced by Justin Hopkins of ScoopDuck, has raised doubts about whether Moore will be available for this week’s Civil War matchup against Oregon State. While the rivalry remains one of the most anticipated games on the schedule, the Ducks may be wise to prioritize Moore’s long-term health with a pivotal contest against Penn State waiting just around the corner.

Moore has quickly emerged as one of Oregon’s most dynamic playmakers, showing why he entered the season as one of the most highly recruited receivers in the country. In three games, he has recorded nine receptions for 144 yards and one touchdown, adding three carries for 42 rushing yards and another score. His explosiveness has been evident in both the passing and rushing game, highlighted by a 65-yard touchdown reception and a long run that showcased his game-breaking speed. The chemistry he is building with quarterback Dante Moore has already made him a reliable target and a key piece of the Ducks’ offense.

Play it smart with the young star

If the injury report proves accurate, Oregon faces a difficult decision. The Civil War is always emotional and carries plenty of pride, but aggravating a hip injury in a rivalry game could cost the Ducks one of their most dangerous weapons in the coming weeks. With Penn State looming, Oregon may be better served to let Moore rest and recover rather than risk a setback. The Ducks have depth in the receiver room, and allowing Moore time to heal could ensure that the offense has its full arsenal available when the schedule intensifies.

Fans will watch closely for any signs of Moore’s availability, from his warmup presence to how the Ducks structure their offensive approach. For now, though, it appears the freshman’s status for the Civil War is in doubt, and the safer option may be to keep him sidelined. What’s clear is that Moore has already established himself as a difference-maker in Eugene, and Oregon will need him healthy if it hopes to continue its push toward the College Football Playoff.
