The Oregon Ducks and Boise State Broncos have not had a good relationship over the past couple of decades, with a few heated battles on the gridiron forming a healthy rivalry between the pair of Pacific Northwest foes.
That rivalry could get even more contentious if Dan Lanning and the Ducks are able to pull off a recruiting flip that they're after, stealing away Boise State quarterback commit Bryson Beavers.
On Wednesday night, Oregon offered Beavers a scholarship after watching him throw at a recruiting camp, and according to On3's Steve Wiltfong, Beaver is strongly entertaining the offer and considering a flip away from the Broncos.
“I threw for Oregon tonight and they offered,” Beaver told On3. “I’m super stoked.”
On3 ranks Beavers as the No. 22 QB in the 2026 class, but with his invite to the Elite 11 finals, his recruitment is expected to take off in the near future with more eyeballs on the 6-foot-3, 195-pound passer.
At the moment, Beavers has offers from the likes of Oregon, Boise State, California, UNLV, and Utah, among some other small schools. That could change quickly, though.
For the Ducks, getting a QB in the class of 2026 is a big need, at the moment. Earlier this year, they missed out on 5-star Jared Curtis, who picked the Georgia Bulldogs. They are in a good spot to land 5-star Ryder Lyons, but the BYU Cougars are also lurking for the Utah native, with a reported hefty NIL offer on the board to keep him home.
Ultimately, Lanning may end up going the developmental route for a passer in this class rather than landing a big fish in the recruiting world. In the past, we've seen that work for Oregon, with guys like Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota and NFL star Justin Herbert coming to Eugene as 3-star recruits.
