OSU Wide Receiver Duo Shines in Texas Bowl Victory

Brennan Presley and Rashod Owens came in with bad intentions on Wednesday. 

Oklahoma State has prided itself on running the ball this season, but it was Owens and Presley who shined for the Cowboys in their 31-23 victory over the Texas A&M Aggies in the Texas Bowl. 

Both wide receivers had big days for the Cowboys, but it was Owens who turned some of his catches into scores. 

Owens finished with 10 grabs for 164 yards and two receiving touchdowns, including over 60 yards and one receiving touchdown in the first quarter. 

His stellar day turned into honors, for Owens was named the Texas Bowl MVP. 

The junior wide receiver said he and Presley were having some friendly competition during the game. 

"Me and BP (Brennan Presley) were talking at halftime about who going to have the most yards by the end of the game," Owens said. "There's the record. I think he broke it. I'm not sure yet. I hope he got it."

The battle between the two continued in the second half, and Presley came close to breaking the reception record. 

He finished with 16 catches for 152 yards, tying Alex Loyd for the most receptions for a single game in Oklahoma State history. 

Presley also went over 100 receptions in a season, making him the first Cowboy to do that since Josh Stewart in 2012. 

Win No. 10 marked the eighth time OSU has reached 10 wins under the Mike Gundy era. Presley said it's how they the players are off the field that makes this team so special. 

"It's just how we interact outside of it," Presley said. "From the hospitality room, all bowl game, we were just playing around and having fun. Playing music and shooting pool. Just hanging around each other.

"It's more of a family-type thing than anything. When you get on the field against other people, and your backs against the wall, it's really easy to overcome because you're with people who you trust."
