Paul Finebaum continues to doubt Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs as season inches closer

ESPN and SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum has been doubting Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs all summer long, and he's still not done doing so.

In a recent episode of "The Paul Finebaum Show," he continued to put down quarterback Gunner Stockton and his ability to lead the Dawgs to a championship run in 2025.

"I'm way out on a limb on Georgia because I'm not crazy about the quarterback, but I also think they have a pretty manageable schedule ," Finebaum said. "They don't have that monster early game like they did last year with Clemson or Oregon or the Notre Dame game from a couple of years ago."

Despite not fully believing in Stockton, Finebaum thinks Georgia finishes the season with two losses for a 10-2 record.

Of course, this was just one of several episodes where Finebaum shut down Smart and Stockton.

“I’m not confident in Gunner Stockton,” Finebaum said earlier this summer. “I sat with Kirby a couple of weeks ago, and he acted like he was, but I’d like to give him a lie detector test. Carson Beck had his faults, but I’d much rather have him than Gunner Stockton.”

You can bet that Smart and Stockton are both taking mental notes, even if they refuse to let what Finebaum says really get to them.

“I mean, that’d be like me saying you’re a bad reporter,” Stockton said at SEC Media Days. “Like anybody, you take offense to whatever fuels you; what fuels me is just doing right by my teammates and trying not to let them down.”

The Bulldogs officially kick off their road to another championship season on Saturday, Aug. 30, against the Thundering Herd at 3:30 pm ET. And one can bet that Stockton will be ready to prove the doubters, especially Finebaum, wrong.
