Paul Finebaum takes shot at Ohio State while hyping up Alabama

Paul Finebaum continues to show he is high on Alabama football ahead of the 2025 season.

Ohio State is ranked No. 3 in the Preseason AP Top 25 Poll, while Alabama football is ranked No. 8. Finebaum feels both teams are out of place.

“Don’t be too shocked by this, but Ohio State is too high, and Heather (Dinich), calm down, Alabama is too low,” Finebaum said during a recent appearance on ESPN’s Get Up. “I really think Alabama is a serious National Championship contender, and I don’t get Ohio State at all. I know they won the national championship last year. That has nothing to do with it. They don’t have the same team, and that national championship hangover is going to get to them. We’ll see that in about two and a half weeks when Texas gets up there and walks out of that stadium a winner.”

The ESPN SEC Network personality and radio host has previously expressed why he feels Alabama is a legit championship contender.

“I have no trouble saying it,” Finebaum said. “I think Alabama is a legitimate National Championship contender. I think they were way too low yesterday, and I don’t know if we ever said that in modern times, but for me, they are a top two, top three, top four team. I’d put them in there over Ohio State, a couple of other schools as well. Maybe even Georgia, but since they’re playing in six weeks, I’m not going to get too hung up on stuff like that. But I really like it and so much of what I’m about to say sounds like I’m rehashing the last five months, but it started with nobody leaving. It continues with Ty Simpson. They have plugged so many holes. The recruiting has been outstanding, and the coaching staff is good for the first time since Kalen DeBoer got there. There were too many weaknesses last year, and we all know where those were, and they’ve been rectified.”

Alabama will look to prove Finebaum right in 2025.
