Penn State All 105: RB Cam Wallace Poised for Bigger Role

Penn State fans should expect to see more of RB Cam Wallace in 2024 than they did in 2023.

As a true freshman last season, Wallace redshirted and didn’t appear in any games.

But this season, there’s an opening.

Trey Potts, who was Penn State’s third-string RB behind Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen, has departed. That means somebody will need to step into that role, and it’s looking likely that Wallace will have the first crack to be that somebody.

Wallace is the latest subject of All 105, a Nittany Sports Now Series profiling each Penn State football player.

Height: 5-foot-9

Weight: 199 pounds

Hometown: Mount Vernon, Georgia

Before Penn State: Wallace won Regional Player of the Year in 2022 for Montgomery High School, rushing for 1,221 yards, 13 touchdowns and averaging 9.6 yards per carry, per MaxPreps.

Although he’s mainly a running back, Wallace has played multiple positions. Offensively, he’s spent time at receiver and quarterback. On defense, he’s played corner and returned kicks on special teams. He returned a kickoff for a touchdown his senior season and picked off two passes. Wallace also threw for 1,964 yards and made 92 tackles, per MaxPreps. Wallace is a speedster, qualifying for states in the 200- and 100-meter dash.

A three-star recruit, Wallace announced his commitment to Penn State less than 24 hours before signing day.

Last year: Wallace redshirted his first season at Penn State.

Where he stands: Because Singelton make up one of college football’s best RB duos, they’ll be the ones handling most of Penn State’s carries as long as they’re healthy. With that said, Wallace will have his opportunities to make big plays, and he’s shown promising signs that he can get it done.
