Penn State Tight End Tyler Warren Makes Big Decision Before NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL combine officially kicked off earlier this week as the top players from around the country gathered in Indianapolis for a series of workouts and meetings with NFL teams.

Earlier this week former Colorado star quarterback Shedeur Sanders made headlines when he announced he wouldn't be competing at the combine, only meeting with teams. While his decision surprised the football world, he wasn't the only athlete to take that route.

Former Boise State star running back Ashton Jeanty, the Heisman Trophy runner-up also opted not to work out at the combine this weekend.

In a move becoming more common place around the pre-draft workout, Penn State's Tyler Warren is taking a similar route. On Wednesday morning, NFL insider Jordan Schultz revealed the Nittany Lions standout will not participate in on-field drills this week, choosing instead to focus on interviews.

"Warren is widely regarded as the top-ranked tight end in the 2025 draft. FOX Sports has also learned that the Mackey Award winner received an invitation to attend the NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin next month, which is especially notable this year given that the league plans to invite about only 8-10 prospects. Thus far, LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell has also been invited," Schultz reported.

Warren is expected to be the first tight end selected in the 2025 NFL draft and is viewed as a potential top 10 pick after winning the Mackey Award as the nation's top tight end.

During the 2024 season, he caught 104 passes for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns while also rushing for 218 yards and four touchdowns - he even added in a passing touchdown as well. Warren broke the Big Ten single-season record for receptions by a tight end as he helped his team to the College Football Playoff.
