The Red Raiders have an easy non-conference schedule to open up the season, beginning with Arkansas-Pine Bluff, followed by Kent State and Oregon State.
All three teams finished below .500 last season, and Kent State was one of the worst teams in the nation, going 0-13. Regarding conference play, Texas Tech plays five Big 12 opponents who had a losing record in 2024.
The program will have an opportunity to clinch its fifth-straight bowl game appearance.
BYU enters its third season competing in the Big 12 and has a favorable schedule in 2025. The Cougars have non-conference matchups with Portland State, Stanford, and East Carolina to start the season.
Portland State and Stanford finished with just three wins in 2024. BYU also takes on UCF, Cincinnati, Arizona, and West Virginia, who all went below .500.
Coming off a disappointing 5-7 record in 2024, the Kansas Jayhawks have one of the easiest schedules in the conference. KU takes on the five teams projected to finish at the bottom of the Big 12 and has favorable non-conference games against Fresno State and Wagner.
Houston finished 4-8 for the second consecutive season, but will have the chance to bounce back in 2025. The Cougars’ non-conference schedule includes Stephen F. Austin, Rice, and Oregon State, as Rice finished 4-8 last season.
In Big 12 play, Houston will battle four teams that had a losing conference record in 2024.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys underperformed last year with a 3-9 overall record, their worst finish since 1991. With non-conference games versus UT Martin and Tulsa, it is expected that OSU will win plenty more games in 2025.
Head coach Mike Gundy and company host four of their first five Big 12 matchups in Stillwater, including Arizona, Houston, and Cincinnati.
