2024 Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy quarterback Michael Van Buren  has de-committed from the Oregon Ducks.

He announced his decision on social media.

Van Buren had been committed to the Ducks since May and chose Oregon from a final three that also included the Penn State Nittany Lions and Maryland Terrapins.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound quarterback is an Under Armour All-American selection and has 19 reported scholarship offers that also include the likes of Alabama, Miami, Michigan and Oklahoma among others.

He's rated a four-star (0.9279) recruit according to the 247Sports Composite. The same system ranks him the No. 179 player nationally, the No. 14 quarterback and the No. 7 recruit in Maryland.

Oregon now has one quarterback committed in the 2024 recruiting class in Luke Moga from Phoenix (Ariz.) Sunnyslope High School. He's been committed to the Ducks since April, and was recently on campus in Eugene to visit Oregon when the Ducks played the USC Trojans.

The Ducks also have a commitment from Van Buren's teammate, 2024 Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy cornerback Iffy Obiedgwu, who committed to Oregon on May 7.

With Van Buren backing off of his commitment, it makes the quarterback picture even more intriguing for Oregon heading into 2024, as it'll be the team's first year with Bo Nix. Quarterback Ty Thompson would likely be viewed as the projected starter, if one were looking at the current options on the roster and the recruits the Ducks are set to welcome from this recruiting cycle.

Oregon still has one of the best recruiting classes in the country, and as the early signing period approaches later this month, Dan Lanning and the Ducks are hard at working recruiting some of the top players in the country.
