Quinn Ewers Draws Comparison to 3-Time Pro Bowl QB

Quinn Ewers is waiting to hear his destination in the 2025 NFL Draft. The now-former Texas quarterback will hope to have at least as solid a career as the passer Cody Kessler likens him to.

The former USC quarterback, who played in the NFL from 2016-18, joined NFL Network's "Good Morning Football" to give some insight into April's quarterback class.

Kessler compared Ewers to another passer who played his college ball in the Lone Star State.

"I could see Quinn Ewers, and Andy Dalton, coming out of TCU, was the definition of a gunslinger," Kessler said. "Effortless, right? He had that where he'd hold it right shoulder level. ... It was just so easy for him to throw. The release, the quick release, great accuracy.

"But, if you put Quinn Ewers on a team like when Andy was with the Bengals, with great weapons around him, with the A.J. Greens and all those different guys, he could excel."

Dalton, now a crafty veteran, will enter his 15th professional season this fall, and third with the Carolina Panthers. He spent the first nine campaigns of his career in Cincinnati, which drafted him No. 35 overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. Kessler believes that Ewers will be slotted somewhere similar to that in this year's event.

Dalton, a three-time Pro Bowler, started all 133 games he played for the Bengals, going 70-61-2. Only Ken Anderson has more career passing yards in Cincinnati, and Dalton's 204 touchdown passes are the most in franchise history.
