The professional journey has officially begun for 22-year-old Quinn Ewers. After starring at Carroll Senior High School in Southlake, Texas, Ewers spent three seasons playing college football for the Texas Longhorns.

While many forget, Ewers actually started his college career at Ohio State, where he took just two snaps during his lone season before transferring. At Texas, he made a lasting impression. The 6-foot-2 quarterback led the Longhorns to back-to-back berths in the College Football Playoff and earned second-team All-SEC honors in his final season.

Ewers entered the 2025 NFL Draft and finally heard his name called on the final day. He was selected in the seventh round, 231st overall, by the Miami Dolphins, making him the last quarterback taken in this year’s draft.

On Friday, Ewers signed his rookie contract, a four-year deal that includes a $131,576 signing bonus, the only guaranteed portion of the contract, according to Spotrac

Ewers now joins a Miami quarterback room that includes Tua Tagovailoa and Zach Wilson.

Next up for Ewers is rookie minicamp, where he'll compete for a spot on the final roster. The Dolphins' minicamp started Friday and will run through Sunday.

During his career at Texas, Ewers completed 64.9 percent of this passes for 9.128 yards with 68 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. He also had eight career rushing touchdowns.

Texas finished the 2024 season 13-3. Under head coach Steve Sarkisian, the Longhorns beat Clemson in the Peach Bowl and Arizona State in the Cotton Bowl before falling to Ohio State 28-14 in a CFP semifinal. Ewers threw six touchdown passes across those three playoff games.
