Quinshon Judkins to transfer: Where the RB could play in 2024

A major name is in the college football transfer portal for the 2024 season to come after Ole Miss sophomore tailback Quinshon Judkins announced his intention to move on from the Rebels and find a new school for next fall. Following two superb seasons, Judkins should emerge as the No. 1 rusher in the portal and is expected to attract serious interest from some of the sport's premier teams.

Judkins finished his Ole Miss career with 2,725 rushing yards and 36 touchdowns, leading the SEC in rushing production over both of his seasons. He ran for 106 yards and caught a touchdown in the Rebels' win over Penn State in the Peach Bowl. Where can the running back land for the 2024 college football season?

Alabama. With the return of quarterback Jalen Milroe, himself an able runner, the Crimson Tide could add to its ground arsenal by adding Judkins, who would pair well with former 5-star recruit Justice Haynes, and could make this offense more productive in the year to come.

Auburn. Jarquez Hunter is undecided on his future with the program and with the return of Payton Thorne at quarterback, it's expected the Tigers will continue to focus on running the ball as the key to its offense in 2024.

LSU. The departure of dual threat quarterback Jayden Daniels and the promotion of Garrett Nussmeier, known as more of a pocket passer and not a threat on the ground, to the position, Brian Kelly is in the market for a No. 1 back to balance things out.

Florida State. Mike Norvell teams traditionally run the ball with power and with the Seminoles losing Trey Benson to the draft plus the addition of transfer dual-threat quarterback DJ Uiagalelei to the backfield, Judkins would be a prime addition.

Oregon. Dan Lanning is about to lose both Bo Nix and back Bucky Irving, and while he already has a replacement for the former after OU transfer Dillon Gabriel signed with the Ducks, he's still looking for a lead rusher, a role Judkins has two years' experience playing as Oregon looks to shore up its offense heading into the Big Ten.

Michigan. There are questions around whether head coach Jim Harbaugh plans to leave the school after the national championship game, a considerable piece of what will be the player's decision. But the Wolverines are set to lose their elite backs as Blake Corum and likely Donovan Edwards turn professional in 2024, and he would play behind one of college football's better offensive lines.
