For weeks, Texas looked like a team running solely on fumes. The O-line was disheveled, the passing game was inconsistent, and the longhorns ground attack (once the program's calling card) was missing its rhythm. That changed when Quintrvion Wisner returned to form last week.

After missing most of the nonconference schedule with a hamstring injury, Wisner has quietly become the steady heartbeat of Steve Sarkisian's offense. His power, patience, and ability to burst through contact have helped to re-establish balance for a Texas team still adjusting to life without a fully healthy CJ Baxter.

A Healthy Wisner Strengthens Sarkisian's Offense

Wisner's toughness was on full display in the Red River Rivalry. Against Oklahoma, Wisner carried 22 times for 94 yards, including a 37-yard run that broke open the Sooners' front and helped Texas control the tempo in a 23-6 win. It wasn't a stat-padding performance, but a tone-setting one.

Earlier in the season, Texas averaged just 3.4 yards per carry in games without Wisner fully available. Since his return, that number has jumped, and the offense has regained its edge in short-yardage situations. Sarkisian's system thrives on downhill confidence, and Wisner brings exactly that.

His comeback didn't start smoothly. In his first game against Florida, Wisner managed only 11 yards on eight carries. It was the kind of cautious outing you expect from a player still testing the limits of his recovery.

“It’s an exciting time. I like our team. I like the hunger of this team. I like the energy,” Sarkisian said in a recent press conference. Wisner is a huge reason for that optimism. Wisner is brought an air of confidence back to a topsy-turvy offense last Saturday. Once that confidence clicked, so did the Longhorns' offense. Wisner's running style—low pad level, quick acceleration, and a willingness to finish through contact—has given the team something it was missing: reliability.

Wisner's return is restoring the Longhorns' identity

Wisner's return has done more than stabilize the depth chart; it's restored the team's attitude. Texas looks more decisive between the tackles, more physical after contact, and more confident in crunch time.

As the schedule tightens and the bye week looms, Sarkisian will have to balance Wisner's workload very carefully. One thing is for certain: the version of the Longhorns that handled Oklahoma looked more like team Texas fans expected to see all along.

If that identity holds, they'll have Wisner to thank—not just for the yards he gains, but for the standard he's reset.
