Radio host compares Bryce Young to Aaron Rodgers

Bryce Young will take the NFL by storm within a year. The 2021 Heisman Trophy winner is widely believed to be in consideration for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. While many analysts compare Young to current Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray due to their similar size, one Alabama radio host (and former college football player) thinks that Young plays more like Aaron Rodgers.

As a sophomore and first-time starter, Young took the NCAA by storm and immediately became lauded as the best quarterback in college football. In 2021, he threw for 4,872 yards and 47 touchdowns against just seven interceptions. He also added three rushing touchdowns, bringing his total to 50 on the season.

For all of his efforts,  Young was awarded He Heisman Trophy over Aidan Hutchinson, Kenny Pickett and C.J. Stroud. In addition, Young was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year and AP Player of the Year. The Crimson Tide QB also won the Manning Award, Maxwell Award and Davey O’Brien Award.

Former college football player and current radio host Kendell Hollowell had this to say about Bryce Young:

“Young has been compared to Kyler Murray because of their similar stature. But his play style is reminiscent of Aaron Rodgers. Young possess a lightening quick release that looks incredibly effortless. There is no wasted movement in his motion and the ball jumps out his hand. It’s a weapon in the red zone with his ability to zip the ball to wide receivers with a simple flick of the wrist.”

That does certainly sound a great deal like Rodgers. Of course, there has not been a quarterback as accurate or who has made throws look as easy as Rodgers does. It will be interesting to see how Young continues to develop.
