The Clemson Tigers and head coach Dabo Swinney found their 2027 quarterback this past week, gaining a commitment from Gainsville (Ga.) High School signal caller Kharim Hughley. They were able to beat out Georgia , Florida, and Illinois for the talented passer. That is the same high school as former Clemson star Deshaun Watson, hopefully a good omen for the program.

The Hughley news may have indirectly helped Notre Dame in a very positive way. One quarterback who was high on the Tigers as well was Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb fast riser Teddy Jarrard, who was actually offered the same weekend as Hughley. Clemson was a team of high interest for Jarrard.

With Clemson now out of the picture, the list just got a little bit smaller for Jarrard. That improves the odds for the Fighting Irish, who are battling it out with Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Miami, Missouri, Arkansas, Indiana, and Illinois. The Buckeyes continue to be an intriguing name associated with Jarrard, already holding a commitment from 2027 quarterback Brady Edmunds.

Along with Louisiana star Peyton Houston, Jarrard is one of just two 2027 quarterbacks that have been offered by the Fighting Irish. While it’s a long shot with Houston, Notre Dame is in a very positive place with the Georgia signal caller. In fact, I think they will have a very good chance in the end.

The biggest question surrounding Jarrard right now is a commitment timeline. There seems to be no rush on the Jarrard side, but big steps are being taken toward making a decision. It wouldn’t be overly shocking to see him try and make that commitment before the start of his junior season, but nothing is set in stone yet.

Jarrard has continued to rise up the rankings this offseason with his consistent performances at camps. He is now considered a four-star recruit according to the On3 Industry and 247Sports Composite rankings. The former has Jarrard currently pegged as the No. 176 overall player, No. 13 quarterback, and No. 22 player in the state of Georgia for the 2026 recruiting class.

247Sports continues to be the outlier, ranking Jarrard as a three-star player. That shouldn’t last much longer, one would hope anyway.

Like his recruiting ratings, Jarrard’s offer list has also continued to get more and more impressive over the last couple of months. Some of his top offers so far include the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan, Miami, Auburn, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Indiana, UNC, NC State, Illinois, Mississippi State, Syracuse, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Duke, and Cincinnati among several others.

The 6-3, 190-pound passer experienced a breakout season as a sophomore. In his first year as the full time starter, Jarrard threw for 2,647 yards and 31 touchdowns while only throwing five interceptions and completing nearly 72 percent of his passes. The Georgia native also added another rushing score on the ground.
