While there are some questions regarding head coach Dave Aranda’s future in Waco, Baylor was able to reel in some good news on Tuesday with the commitment of in-state Class of 2027 quarterback Luke Babin.

Babin is widely considered one of the top five Class of 2027 quarterbacks in Texas. He initially committed to Vanderbilt in September, before reopening his process a little more than a month ago.

Baylor was always a serious contender for Babin, as they were one of his first two offers back in May 2024. Aside from Baylor and Vanderbilt, he also earned offers from TCU, Oklahoma State, UTSA, Houston and Texas Tech. The Bears and Cougars were considered his leaders leading up to Tuesday’s commitment.

The Bears added a quarterback who had a highly successful junior season at Woodville High School. Babin showcased his dual-threat abilities by passing for 3,063 yards, 40 touchdowns and five interceptions, while rushing for 562 yards and seven touchdowns.

Babin is Baylor’s fifth commitment and first since late January. He is also the Bears second offensive commitment, joining wide receiver Karece Hoyt (Frisco, TX).
