After a slow start to his recruiting career at Penn State, new head coach Matt Campbell has had a successful week with his first three commitments. After picking up pledges from cornerback Semajay Robinson (Fort Lauderdale, FL) and cornerback Zachary Gleason Jr. (Pittsburgh, PA), his first in-state commitment, Coach Campbell dove into New Jersey on Wednesday to add his third.
Ka’ron Ceaser, who is also a cornerback, plays his high school football for Winslow Township in Atco, New Jersey. Of note, Winslow Township is coached by Bill Belton, who played for the Nittany Lions from 2011 to 2014.
Ceaser piled up numerous other offers during his process, most notably from Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, Duke, Maryland and Syracuse. His commitment to Penn State came a day after a visit to Happy Valley.
As with most programs, late May and June will be pivotal to the overall success of Penn State’s recruiting class, but adding three commitments over the last week gets the monkey off Coach Campbell’s back.
While none of the three commitments are regarded as elite, it was what was needed to get the recruiting ball rolling in Happy Valley.
