Report: Ohio State Could Make A Splash For Awesome Defensive Player From The SEC
Maria Lysaker-USA TODAY Sports

Ohio State has been a transfer university this offseason for a few big-time college football players, and why not add another one to the mix this time in the spring portal?

Ohio State Took Some SEC Players This Winter

This winter, the Buckeyes saw three big-time SEC players transfer to their program, two from Alabama in center Seth McLaughlin and safety Caleb Downs, and Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins joined the squad.

The Buckeyes are turning into an SEC team, and it’s a good idea since if you want to win anything in college football, you have to beat the SEC. The Buckeyes could be stealing another one, this time from Texas A&M.

Texas A&M Jacoby Mathews Has Been Linked To The Buckeyes

According to Hayes Fawcett from On3.com, Texas A&M safety Jacoby Mathews has heard from 12 schools since entering the portal, and Ohio State was one of them.

Fawcett stated, “Mathews totaled 67 tackles, one interception, and seven passes defended in his two years with the Aggies.”

Mathews Coming To The Buckeyes Is Probably a Long Shot

It doesn’t seem like Mathews would come to the Buckeyes since the safety room is already loaded with Caleb Downs, Lathan Ransom, and Sonny Styles, who can play safety and linebacker.

The former Aggie probably wants to head to a team where he can see the field this season, and he wouldn’t see it this year if he heads to Columbus.
