Report: Person fired after tweeting support for Alabama player accused of hitting fan

Per OutKick's Glenn Guilbeau and David Russell of the New York Post, a company based out of Memphis reportedly has fired an employee who tweeted support for an Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver accused of striking at least one fan following Saturday's 52-49 upset loss at the Tennessee Volunteers.

A person allegedly linked with Kele Inc., a building products supplier, took to social media to back the actions of Alabama's Jermaine Burton after a video appeared to show Burton hitting a female Tennessee football fan in the head as he attempted to walk to the locker room while fans stormed the Neyland Stadium field.

"I am glad he did it," that individual tweeted about Burton on Tuesday. "Should have knocked her head off. Not supposed to be on the field anyway."

Kele announced on Wednesday it had dismissed an employee but neither confirmed nor denied that decision was related to the previously mentioned tweet.

"Kele does not stand for or tolerate offensive or hateful comments toward any group or individual," the company tweeted Wednesday afternoon. "We take this issue very seriously, and as a result, Kele and this employee have parted ways."

In a statement released Wednesday, Alabama head coach Nick Saban said the university was "aware of the situation with Jermaine Burton as he was exiting the field Saturday" and was "working to gather more information."

Meanwhile, Tennessee was fined $100,000 for violating Southeastern Conference rules that prohibit fans from entering competition areas at any time.
