Rueben Owens Sends Clear Message That He’s Back With Social Media Hype Video
Maria Lysaker-USA TODAY Sports

Texas A&M football's running back room suffered a series of injuries in 2024-25, but the future is looking bright for the Aggies. The No. 2 role behind a healthy Le'Veon Moss is up for grabs, and Rueben Owens and Amari Daniels are battling for it.

Though Daniels stood up to the challenge of filling in for Moss when he endured his season-ending knee injury, Owens is extremely versatile and saw some time on the field at the end of the 2024 campaign. He had 16 carries for 66 yards with an additional six-yard reception over two games as a sophomore. During his rookie season, he rushed 385 yards and three touchdowns on 101 carries. He also had 12 receptions for 109 yards.

On Friday, June 11, Owens posted a hype video on X showing that he's 100 percent healthy and ready for the upcoming season.

The rising redshirt sophomore suffered a Lisfranc injury during a fall camp scrimmage that took him out of all but two games. Though head coach Mike Elko already confirmed at Coach's Night that Owens is definitely back and ready to hit the ground running, his post on social media stirred up a lot of excitement among fans and rightfully so.

He was a five-star recruit in his class and the No. 2 running back in the country. Owens proved himself as a freshmen and was preparing to build on that success in his second year. The bump in the road, though, only made him physically and mentally stronger just in time to remind everyone exactly why the hype is deserved.

The Aggies are in a good position heading into the 2025-26 season with a lot of belief swarming around the program. Quarterback Marcel Reed has high hopes of winning the Heisman Trophy and the wide receiver room is newly decorated with major upgrades in KC Concepcion and Mario Craver.

In the backfield alone, Elko has a lot to work with. Moss, Owens, and Daniels will all see time on the field and have a noticeable impact in the coming season no matter which running back takes that No. 2 spot.
