Alabama’s football wide receiver, Ryan Williams acknowledged Ty Simpson as the frontrunner in the Crimson Tide’s quarterback competition.
Simpson is currently competing for the spot alongside Keelon Russell and Austin Mack.
After a spring of catching passes from all three quarterbacks, Williams is confident in and comfortable with each arm of this trio as Alabama inches closer to the 2025 season. Williams confirmed this belief during an appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay podcast.
“The tape speaks for itself,” Williams said. “We have three very good quarterbacks. Either way that it goes, I’m comfortable and confident in any of those guys just because I’ve seen the work that they put in. They all have different tendencies. Like you said, Ty (Simpson) is the frontrunner right now, just trying to build a relationship with not only him but the rest of them of course, just get prepared for this season. We’re super excited.”
Simpson, Mack and Russell are expected to continue to compete for the spot throughout the summer.
