Sarkisian Addesses Fans Booing the Team

The Texas Longhorns emerged with a 27-10 win on Saturday over UTEP, and many fans were displeased with the offensive struggles and persistent issues that quarterback Arch Manning has been dealing with.

Manning’s issues were prevalent in the second quarter as he struggled to complete almost every pass.

He started the game off decently, completing 4-of-5 passes for 58 yards in the first quarter. However, Manning’s performance declined as Texas entered the second quarter, with the team only up by seven points against the Miners.

Manning attempted pass after pass, with all of them falling incomplete. By the time the second quarter was almost over, Manning had thrown 10 straight incompletions and only managed to hit one before the end of the half.

As Manning and the team headed off the field and back to the locker rooms for halftime, Texas fans booed the team.

It put into perspective just how bad the struggles from the Longhorns have been. Everyone has known there have been issues, but this really showed just how unsatisfied Texas fans are through three games.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian addressed what happened in his press conference on Monday.

“If they were booing about the way we were playing, just imagine how we were feeling about the way we were playing at some of that juncture in the first half,” Sarkisian said. “Understandable, but don’t give up on us too quickly. I think we’ve got a pretty good team.”

It’s no secret that the Longhorns have a good team, and that’s why fans are frustrated.

This should tell Sarkisian, if he hasn’t realized already, that Texas is not playing up to the standard that he has created in his time in Austin, because this offense doesn’t even quite look like it could win eight games.

There’s not much time left either. The Longhorns will face Sam Houston State on Saturday before they travel to Gainesville to face Florida, and start conference play, in just about a week and a half.
