As the college football season comes to a close, players are making big decisions about their futures. Many are opting to return for another year, others are entering the transfer portal, and some are preparing to take their talents to the NFL.
For Tennessee Volunteers star running back Dylan Sampson, he revealed his plans for the upcoming 2025 season on Friday.
On social media, the 2024 SEC Offensive Player of the Year announced that he will forgo his senior season and declare for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sampson finished the season with 258 carries for 1,491 yards and 22 rushing touchdowns.
The Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native was a major part of the Vols' run to the College Football Playoff this season.
In addition to being named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year, he was also first-team All-SEC and a second-team All-American.
Sampson broke out this year after stepping into the primary running back role, following a 2023 season where he shared carries with current Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright.
According to ESPN's NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper, Sampson is ranked as the No. 10 running back in the upcoming draft.
Some notable names Kiper has ranked ahead of the 5-foot-11, 201-pounder include Boise State's Ashton Jeanty, North Carolina's Omarion Hampton and Iowa's Kaleb Johnson.
