There's no doubt it was a great season for the Texas Longhorns, going 13-3 and entering the College Football Playoff as the No. 5 seed and advancing to the semifinals until losing to No. 8 Ohio State.
Now, the team looks to do only better in 2025, with ESPN BET giving the best odds to win the SEC (+200) and the second-best odds (+500) to win the national championship.
However, it's hard to ignore that Texas is one program that's taken some major hits, now losing 12 total players, with the latest coming on Friday in the form of wide receiver Freddie Dubose Jr.

Coming out of high school, Dubose was an important piece of Texas' 2024 recruiting class, with On3 industry rankings placing him as a three-star prospect, the No. 72 wide receiver and the No. 436 player in the nation.
He'd even chosen them over multiple high-level programs, including Penn State, Oregon, Tennessee, Nebraska, Texas A&M and Arizona State.
Luckily for the Longhorns and Sarkisian, they're not going to lose out on any returning production because Dubose had redshirted his freshman year and didn't record any statistics.
However, he joins an extensive list of players from Texas to hit the portal, including four-star tight end Amari Niblack (Texas A&M), four-star defensive lineman Tiaoalii Savea (Arizona) and four-star EDGE Justice Finkley (Kansas).
