Shedeur Sanders is in the headlines once again.

The University of Colorado quarterback has been a lightning rod for controversy in terms of his draft placement. From his confidence on being selected with the first overall pick to customized cleats suggesting he would be drafted by the New York Giants, Sanders has continued to put his name in the news.

His latest appearance has to do with his draft night plans. On his podcast 2Legendary, Sanders announced he would not attend the draft day proceedings in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The news comes weeks after Colorado head coach and Shedeur’s father Deion Sanders announced that he would not be attending the draft on the Rich Eisen Show.

“We’re good, man. Like we want to celebrate with our people. With our folks, with our wonderful student body,” Sanders said. “I’m just teasing it a little bit.”

Both Deion and Shedeur’s comments suggest that the Sanders family will host a special draft celebration in Colorado, allowing Buffaloes fans to share in the moment. However, information outside of that is scarce.

Interestingly enough, this news coincides with rumors that Sanders’ draft stock is beginning to fall. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, there are scouts who do not even have a first-round grade on the quarterback.

“I’ve already talked to people within the league who don’t have anything close to a first-round grade on the guy,” Pelissero said.

“The idea that he’s just going to walk in and going to be the No. 1 pick, that’s probably pushing it… if I were guessing who comes off the board first, I’d say Shedeur is not the first Colorado player off the board as it stands today.”

Pelissero’s report comes a week after Sanders’ final game in the Alamo Bowl against the BYU Cougars, where he showcased some flaws in his game that will need to be ironed out for him to live up to his potential.

It is highly unlikely that Sanders comes close to falling out of the first round, due to the positional value of quarterbacks and Sanders being considered one of two pro-ready players at the position alongside Miami’s Cam Ward.

However, for a team like the Las Vegas Raiders who have fallen out of the top five selections, the idea of getting Sanders at eight without having to move up is an enticing prospect.

The festivities that the Sanders family have planned for draft night will certainly make headlines. The only question is how long with Shedeur have to wait to hear his name called.
