It's almost time for the NFL Draft. And with a week or so to go before the Tennessee Titans are on the clock, Colorado's Shedeur Sanders continues to be one of the most intriguing prospects as far as his draft position.
Early in the process, it was looking like the Buffs star would be the no-doubt first overall pick. Now some people have him dropping all the way to the Steelers at No. 21 or further.
That kind of volatility has newly-signed ESPN analyst Peter Schrager reminiscing about a different QB. But it may not be who Sanders wants to be compared to with the draft right around the corner...
"Shedeur Sanders is the most interesting draft prospect since Johnny Manziel," Schrager proclaimed on Tuesday morning's "Get Up." "Yes, I'm going back that far, in which this guy could go as high as No. 2 overall, or slip to the end of the first round or early second. Yet, we will be watching every last second until he's selected. I don't remember a draft where a player that's not the blue-chip, first guy is the one we're talking about every single day."
Schrager cleared up that he doesn't feel Shedeur is the same type of player as Manziel, or that he has any of the off-field character concerns that Johnny did. But so much of this year's draft talk has been about the All-American who many have falling in the draft due to his lack of elite measurables.
If we've learned anything about the quarterback position, it's that it's more about processing speed and ball placement. But many teams feel that if they're going to draft a player in the top 5-10 picks, there needs to be a tangible superpower.
Sanders could realistically end up with the Browns (No. 2), Giants (No. 3), Saints (No. 9) or aforementioned Steelers come April 24. But one thing's for certain, we'll be locked in until his name's off the board.
