The Michigan Wolverines beat Nebraska 30-27 in a game that could have had a bigger final score difference with smarter play on behalf of the Wolverines.
Head coach Sherrone Moore addressed the media on Monday, sharing his thoughts on myriad topics including quarterback Bryce Underwood's usage in the running game.
Underwood broke off a touchdown run from a quarterback draw in the first quarter of Saturday's game that gave Michigan a 10-0 lead and had fans wondering where the the play was against Oklahoma two weeks earlier.
Moore had a direct take on the situation as he shared his thoughts on Underwood's skills.
Moore said that the Wolverines had plays in tow for Underwood to run against the Sooners but hinted that his maturation as a runner is a work in progress.
"#Michigan HC Sherrone Moore says they had plays for QB Bryce Underwood to run in every game in the Oklahoma game, but he's getting more of a feel for it and getting better with it, too," reporter Bryce Marich wrote on X.
Underwood ran three times for minus-one yard against Oklahoma as he appeared unsure of himself at multiple times during the game and had a hard time throwing the ball.
He bounced back against the Cornhuskers with 105 yards passing and 65 yards rushing, an efficient effort that had fans and analysts singing his praises.
Michigan's current bye week is leading in to an Oct. 4 game against Wisconsin that could be a trap game. The Badgers have struggled recently under coach Luke Fickell but have the talent to pull out an upset.
Wisconsin has lost back-to-back games to Alabama and Maryland and may be playing to save their season by the time the game arrives.
Moore said he feels the team is "in a great place" and will use the bye week to heal up.
He added that Michigan isn't "going anywhere," sharing his thoughts on his team's chances to contend for a championship this season.
Michigan's injury situation caused havoc on the road in Norman, OK recently with tight end Marlin Klein and guard Gio El-Hadi missing all or most of it.
Michigan will need all hands on deck with the Badgers and arch rival Michigan State next on the schedule, especially up front considering how important their running game will be going forward.
