The Michigan Wolverines took care of business at home on Saturday with a 63-3 win over Matt Drinkall's Central Michigan Chippewas, the team's most complete game of the young season.
The Wolverines' acting head coach Biff Poggi answered questions after the game during which he fired off a wide variety of one-liners including comparing head coach Sherrone Moore, who was suspended for the game, to Tiger Woods and himself to Tiger Woods' caddy.
Poggi also shared an emotional moment with Inside Michigan Football host Jon Jansen during which he revealed the impact Moore's absence had on him and the team.
Poggi started off his post game interview with Jansen by speaking about Moore.
"You're not new to head coaching, but I know how much you love this place, this program. What was it like for you to be the head coach today?" Jansen asked.
"Well, Jon, first of all it was heartbreaking, because Sherrone is like a son to me, you know I've got kids that's older than he is, and it was hard for everybody in the building and hard for me today," he added.
"I think what you saw today, Jon, was honestly the players love him so much that that was 120, 18-to-22 year olds writing their head football coach a love letter, that's what that was," Poggi added.
Poggi called coaching the Wolverines a "great joy," adding that "there's no place like this place" in reference to Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan.
The Wolverines had eight rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown on the day, succeeding in their rushing attack at a much higher level than the first two games.
He added that starting quarterback Bryce Underwood played "very, very well," before shouting out defensive coordinator Wink Martindale for a well-called game.
"He's always got a creative plan, which is, I thought they (the defense) played awesome," Poggi added.
Michigan has its first road game of the year in the Big Ten scheduled for Saturday in Lincoln, Nebraska at 3:30 p.m with Moore scheduled to miss his second and likely final game of the 2025-26 college football season.
The Wolverines have not lost to Nebraska since they dropped back-to-back games to the Cornhuskers in 2012-2013.
Coach Matt Rhule's team is coming off of a 59-7 win over Houston Christian last week after wins over Akron and Cincinnati in the previous two weeks.
