The attention of the NFL world was on Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes program on Friday as the team's draft-eligible players participated in the "We Ain't Hard 2 Find Showcase."
Unlike Colorado's two superstars, quarterback Sheduer Sanders and two-way Travis Hunter, safety Shilo Sanders wasn't invited to the NFL combine. On top of that, he also didn't partake in the Big 12 pro day. So, Friday marked the fifth-year safety's first and final time to make a lasting impression in front of teams with his testing numbers.
The one drill he was likely looking to impress the most in was the 40-yard dash, which saw him run a 4.52 on his first attempt and 4.59 on his second, per 247Sports. The faster of the two times would have been better than four safeties at the NFL combine, while the slower was tied for the worst time.
However, when an account on X posted a video of the slower time, Sanders questioned why they didn't post his faster time.
"I drifted," Sanders wrote. "The 1st one was 4.52 idk why yall wouldn’t post that."
While his times are nothing to be ashamed of, they were not fast enough to win the bet he had placed with his father/coach. While training for Colorado's pro day event back in March, "Coach Prime" told Shilo Sanders that if he ran a 4.4 40-yard dash, he'd buy him a car of his choosing.
"You ran a 4.4 I'll buy you a new car," Deion Sanders said." Straight up. You run a 4.4...what kind of car you want?"
They also weren't quick enough to prevent internet trolls from going after him, which has been a common theme throughout his career. Regarding his draft stock, PFF ranks the older of the two Sanders brothers as the No. 283 player in the class.
With 257 picks total in the draft, Sanders should have a chance at hearing his name called in the later round.
