Someone very important at Oklahoma just teased the possibility of a new permanent decoration outside the football stadium

There have been so many prominent figures throughout the history of the Oklahoma Sooners and their athletics department, whether it be players, coaches, staff members, or even Athletic Directors.

And, it is one of the many reasons the Sooners are as big of a sports "franchise" or "enterprise," as some would say, as they are. The Sooners are prestigious in a few different sports like football and softball, and only more names will be able to be added to that list of prominent figures as time goes on.

It happens so often with a school and program like Oklahoma that I feel like fans and media alike often forget to appreciate the era and moment we are all living in when it comes to the school. The last few decades have been the Joe Castiglione era, as he has turned around the school's athletic department more than anyone would have ever imagined when he took over.

And, for that, the Sooners will honor him, as he announced he will be retiring after this 2025 football season. And when the time comes, the Sooners could be adding some more decorations outside the stadium.

“There will be more news on this front," Oklahoma President Joe Harroz said regarding AD Joe Castiglione. "There’s going to be an honor, it will likely be in bronze. And, we will address that at a later time. It is, it is important. And, you have to recognize those great leaders. Athletics has a tradition of honoring those who have made historic impacts on the enterprise. We even gave Bob Stoops one. So, as we look at this -- this is an announcement, and there will be celebrations to come. And, I hope you will attend as we will be properly recognizing Joe's contributions."

At this point, the Sooners will be known for their statues. They have them everywhere on campus, and they especially have them near the football stadium. I'm not sure if Joe C's statue would go there, but it wouldn't hurt. Then again, where do you put the Athletic Director's statue, considering he is over all of the sports, and has turned them all around in some way?

This is definitely something the man deserves.
