South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer dropped a timely reference to former Tennessee Vols head coach Phillip Fulmer on Tuesday afternoon.

Beamer met with reporters on Tuesday for his weekly press conference ahead of the Gamecocks' matchup this weekend against the Texas A&M Aggies.

A reporter asked Beamer about the idea that South Carolina's final five games of the regular season will determine how the Gamecocks are viewed in 2024.

"I think every coach in America uses the 'they remember November' thing," said Beamer. "I think that's kind of universal, as a coach, to say that. I was hearing that back at Tennessee, back in 2001, when I was a [graduate assistant] for Phillip Fulmer. He used to say it."

"We've done a lot of really good to this point, and we've certainly had some heartbreaking losses and disappointments, but this team will be judged and remembered by November," added Beamer.

Beamer served as a graduate assistant at Tennessee from 2001 to 2003.

South Carolina is 4-3 through their first seven games of the season. They could easily be 6-1 if a couple of things would've gone their way in narrow losses to LSU and Alabama (specifically that LSU game, which had some rough officiating that mostly hurt SC).

The Gamecocks have a tough one this weekend against the Aggies before taking on Vanderbilt, Missouri, Wofford, and Clemson to finish the regular season.
