Steve Sarkisian Sends Hilarious Warning To Arch Manning
Sara Diggins/American-Statesman / USA TODAY NETWORK

Arch Manning received a clear disclaimer from Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian before the quarterback's visit to Ryan Wingo's home in St. Louis.

The Longhorns' head coach revealed their interaction during an apperance to the 3rd and Long Podcast. Sarkisian had experienced the overwhelming love Ryan Wingo's entire neighborhood showered on him and so he cheekily warned Manning.

Coach Sarkisian recalled his interaction with Arch, "I asked him, I said you're going to Wingo's? Get ready. The whole neighborhood's is coming up, man!"

The 21-year-old quarterback texted Sarkisian back after the visit saying, "You weren't kidding man, his family runs deep!"

But Manning did not shy away from the love. He made his presence felt by truly becoming part of the process whether it was the cookout or the interaction with the campers.

The Longhorns quarterback even went viral for being in the trenches and taking part in the linemen drills. After the camp at St. Louis High School, the Longhorns players went to Wingo's childhood neighbourhood for a cookout.

Sarkisian reflects on the Texas QB's devotion to his teammates and how he just wants to be the best version of himself for his team. He emphasized that Manning's visit to Wingo's youth camp is a "snapshot indicator" of how the quarterback thinks despite being from one of the biggest football families.

Coach Sarkisian said, "This guy, he's just a normal guy. He's a good teammate that his teammates love."

Longhorns need every bit of leadership they can get from Arch since they've lost out on many key voices in the locker room. Thus, both, community engagement and team bonding that occurred during their St. Louis visit will help the players get to know and trust each other more easily.

Despite the stellar image he's carried in Texas, the college football world continues to doubt his abilities. SEC legend Steve Spurrier expressed his concerns about Arch Manning's hype with a direct question.

He said, “They’ve got Arch Manning already winning the Heisman, too... ...My question is, if he was this good, how come they let Quinn Ewers play all the time last year?”

Doubts like these will continue to pop up till the time Arch Manning steps onto the field as the Longhorns starter. Now whether these doubters will be silenced or emboldened is up to Manning's on-field display.

Texas Longhorns kick off their season against the Ohio State Buckeyes on 30 August 2025.
